The priestly vocation is a gift from God. It is undoubtedly a great good for the person who is its first recipient. But it is also a gift to the Church as a whole, a benefit to her life and mission. The Church, therefore, is called to safeguard this gift, to esteem it and love it. (Pastores dabo vobis, 41)

Katherine does her bit for vocations ...
Katherine Rickards - a member of the diocesan womens' discernment group, Alive in Christ - was interviewed on BBC Radio Sussex/Surrey this morning and did a really good job at talking about the process of discernment, prayer and discovery with which she's presently engaged. I was very proud!
Go here to listen to it (you've got just 7 days) and she's 1:37:30 in ...
Keep up the good work Katherine!
A little later, at 2:40:12, you can hear Sr Cathy Jones of the National Office for Vocation responding to both Katherine's piece and also the situation generally around a perceived increase among vocations to Religious Life (Laus Deo!).

Katherine spoke very well - with intelligence, insight and clarity. I'm sure it will have helped those listening to understand better what it is to discern a vocation to religious life. Well done!
